Grade 9 in U.S. boarding school

Student Name: James L.
School Curriculum with school type:
H.K. international school, A.P. curriculum
Major/Course Applied:
Grade 9 in U.S. boarding school
Challenges encountered by student:
As an extrovert, James would sometimes go off-topic and lose his focus in interview responses.
He was a talented swimmer but didn’t know how to show this talent to prospective boarding schools.
What had we worked on together?
James wanted to target the top boarding schools in the U.S. He was a very active student, participating in his school’s swimming team and building his own computers in his spare time. Due to his interests and strengths, throughout his application, we portrayed him as a scholar-athlete who was able to contribute to his future school’s swim team and, at the same time, excel academically. His positioning helped distinguish him from students with a similar ethnic background, as students from this region are either academically strong or athletic, but rarely both.
